Terry Bradshaw, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he attended Woodlawn High School. Before he graduated from Louisiana Tech, where he majored in Liberal Arts, most scouts in the league considered him to be the most outstanding Senior of 1969. They had plenty of good reasons, too. During his college career he completed 462 (52.5%) of his 879 passing attempts for 7,149 yards and 42 touchdowns. He was Senior Co-Captain, and held the all school passing and total offense records. He was named first team All-America by AP, Coaches and Time and 2nd team by UPI and Sporting News, he also excelled in Senior Bowl as MVP and also played in North-South game.
Bradshaw was first player selected in NFL draft, 1970. Though it did take him several seasons to mature and hone his natural ability, he soon became a great leader, eventually calling his own plays. As a more seasoned quarterback, he lead his team to an unparalleled four Super Bowl Championships in six years from 1974 - 1979 and eight AFC Central titles. In two of those Super Bowls, XIII and XIV, Bradshaw earned MVP status. He also held Super Bowl Records, passing for 932 yards and 9 TDs.
In his 14-season career, Bradshaw completed 2,025 of 3,901 passes for 27,989 yards and 212 touchdowns. In 19 postseason games, he completed 261 passes for 3,833 yards. He also rushed 444 times for 2,257 yards and 32 touchdowns. He was invited to three Pro Bowls. In 1978 Bradshaw was named player of the year, he also went all-pro that same year. In 1979 he was All-AFC.
In Steelers' six regular season wins in 1982, he completed 60% of his passes with 16 TDs and just five interceptions. Had one of the best games of his career in the playoff defeat to San Diego, completing 28 of 39 for a postseason career high of 325 yards and in one drive during that game successfully completed a career high of 15 consecutive passes.
Despite the time required to maintain such phenomenal skill and athleticism , Bradshaw continued his education in the off season and received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Alderson-Broaddus (W. Va) in 1979 and Doctor of Humanities from Louisiana Tech in 1981.
