Improved rapidly during his two seasons at Kentucky ... As a freshman, saw action in each of Kentucky's 33 games, primarily coming off the bench as a frontcourt reserve, but was named MVP of the SEC Tournament after collecting 53 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists and six steals in three games, including a season-high 23 points in Kentucky's comeback win over Arkansas in the championship game ... As a sophomore, in addition to leading UK in rebounding and minutes, ranked second on the team in scoring (15.2 ppg), assists (2.9 apg) and steals (1.69 spg) ... Named to the 1996-97 NBA All-Rookie First Team after a brilliant season in which he averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, leading the Celtics in both categories even though he often saw playing time at center as well as his natural forward position ... Also led the team in field goals made (576) and attempted (1,354) and blocked shots (53) ... A workhorse on a team whose roster was thinned by injuries, was the only Boston player to appear in all 82 games, making 68 starts, and seemed to get stronger as the season wore on ... Played 40 minutes or more 38 times, including each of the last 14 games, and started every game from 1/3 to the end of the season ... Scored in double figures 74 times, including each of the last 20 games, and had 20 points 30 times and 30 points three times, with a career-high 37 in a 113-105 loss at Philadelphia on 3/28 ...
